The First, Best Thing To Work On For Your Health & Wellness

If you could work on one thing for your health and wellness, what would it be?

We try all sorts of thing to improve our health and wellness. Lets look at a list of some things:

  • Start An exercise plan.
  • Get more sleep
  • Get outdoors
  • Drink tea
  • Practice yoga
  • Get up earlier
  • Use technology to track yourself
  • See your family more
  • Cook meals.

And it goes on and on and on.

All of these things are all, well and good but none of them help or last for long if you don’t, first, work on this one thing.

And what is that one thing?

Your MINDSET. 

If you don’t first work on your mindset and have the “right” “State of mind”, then there is a good chance that all of these other tasks, habits, and plans for improving your health and wellness, will fall by the way side soon after you start them.

Mindset defined is: a way of thinking or a set of beliefs that determines one’s attitude, outlook or behavior.

Behavior is defined as: anything that an organism does involving action and response to stimulation

Therefore, “Mindset Determines your Behavior and Actions”

We all have a mindset pattern or beliefs in our head about certain aspects of our life.  It can be Positive, negative or let’s say neutral.

If it’s NEGATIVE:

You say things like: “I’ve always had trouble this or that…”, or “I  could NEVER do that”, or “That just doesn’t work for me”.

If you have a negative Mindset, meaning negatives thoughts or beliefs about yourself, it will lead to negative behaviors or actions.

And those negative actions done repetitively, become negative habits

Which give you negative results.

You see, very often, the challenges we face with our Health and wellness can have less to do with the physical aspects of our “Body” but, rather, the belief systems about ourselves and whether we can change our habits to get better results than we’ve been getting.

One of my favorite quotes is:

“If you always do what you’ve always done, then you’ll always be, what you’ve always been”

Some attribute the saying to Mark Twain. Other to Henry ford, Albert Einstein or Tony Robbins. I have not found sources that agree so I will pay respects to all.

Said another way, if you continue with the same habits you have now you will continue to get the same results you have been getting

Or “if you want to get different results than what you’ve been getting, you have to do things differently than how you’ve been doing them”!

So, let’s reverse engineer the challenge, shall we.

If we want to get better results, we need to change our habits, that come from our actions which come from our thoughts and beliefs which is our Mindset

And so, It starts with your MINDSET

So lets flip this around.  If you develop a positive mindset, creating positive thoughts and beliefs systems about yourself, this will lead to positive behaviors and actions. “You can see where this is going, right?”

Your positive actions, done repetitively, will create positive habits that will give you positive results.

“A Positive Mindset leads To Positive Progress”.

Is it THAT easy Mark? Just Have a Positive Mindset, and everything is alright?

No.  It does not mean that all you have to do is have a positive attitude and everything will be alright. It’s more than that.

Working on your Mindset, mindfulness and self is a continuous journey and well worth the work.

It starts with Awareness; awareness of self and that your current belief system and thought process may not be working for you as well as you would like.

It leads to belief in yourself and the intention that you can achieve anything you put your mind to.

A few years back I created a saying that has since become the framework for all of my training and cotent including my coursework.

“Awaken Your Mind And See Clearly, The Path That Leads To The Accomplishment Of Your Goals”…Mark

Notice; The sentence starts with “Awaken Your Mind”.

As you become aware of your mindset and start to enhance your belief system and thought process, your path will start to become more clear.

So with respect to all of those tools that you can use to enhance our health and wellness that we spoke about earlier, you will see amazing results and see that you can better maintain the results.

When you first, work on your mindset and continue to work on your mindset.

So when you hear that your Health & Wellness is all about

Body, Mind and Spirit, I want you to think, Ok; the order should be Spirit, Mind and Body.

Starting first with your mindset
