4 Tips On How To Reduce Stress & Anxiety
I wanted to talk today about some tips on how to reduce stress and anxiety.
Developing an awareness of yourself, promotes calm and control in your life.
Now listen to that again, …
Developing an awareness of yourself, promotes calm and control in your life.
Your ability to recognize your state and control it or enhance it allows you to be more present in the moment and your ability to be more present in the moment helps to reduce stress and anxiety.
So how does it work?
One of the five major principles of my focused mind course is Understanding.
It’s having a better understanding of yourself, it’s being aware of your state. It’s being present in the moment and understanding.
It’s an acceptance of yourself is the beginning of a transformational change.
You see, if you have an awareness of your state, then you can either enhance a positive state or you can change a negative state of mind.
You see, the enemy of calm and control is dwelling on the past and worrying about the future. It steals yourself away from the present.
Catherine Valente said, …
“Do not ruin today by mourning tomorrow.”
So if you’re stuck in what I call a negative mindset loop, and you recognize that you’re in this state, you may be aware that you’re perseverating on past events or worrying about a future that hasn’t happened yet.
And when you’re stuck in this cycle or loop, it is impossible to be present in the moment. And when you’re not present in the moment you end up living your day passively, reacting to the events around you.
And then what happens is your day controls you.
Buddha said, …
“Do not dwell in the past. Do not dream of the future. Concentrate your mind on the present moment.”
So if you are consciously present in the moment; in the now, then you are letting go of the negative effects of the past and the future and your stress and your anxiety will start to melt away.
So if you recognize that you’re stuck in this cycle and you have high levels of stress and anxiety, what do you do about it?
It can be extremely challenging to break the negative mindset loop and to change the heightened sense of stress and anxiety just by thinking your way out of it.
But you can use something physiological to affect your nervous system and bring about a change to your state.
You can do something as simple as breathwork to help change your state. to bring on a sense of calm and control, to lower your heart rate and to reduce your stress and anxiety.
You can start with something as simple as taking:
Three…,
Slow…,
Deep breaths.
Try to focus only on your breathing. Take a deep breath in through your nose and an out through your mouth and do that three times only focusing on your breathing. And you will start to feel yourself have a sense of calm.
You can feel your heart rate slowing down. You’ll feel a sense of control.
Now many would say, this is a simple form of meditation. Many of people say, “oh, I can’t meditate. I can’t focus for more than a millisecond before I start thinking about what I have to do that day.”
This is exactly why you need this. Take the time to start focusing on your breathing. You will be amazed at the difference. It makes start with one breath, then go to three, then go to five. Before you know it, you’ll be doing more and more, and this becomes your meditation.
Then you could try other things like guided meditation. You can do activities like Thai Chi, Qi Gong, yoga, other forms of exercises like aerobics. You can walk, you can run, you can do the elliptical. You can do weight training. All of these things including exercise has been shown to help change your physiological state.
So let’s review those tips again about how to reduce your stress and anxiety.
Number one: is understanding yourself.
And if you’re watching this video, you’re well on your way including watching other videos like this, reading personal development books, self Grove books, and anything else to help you better understand yourself.
Being aware of your state was the second tip.
The better you recognize the state that you’re in, the better you can help control and decrease your stress and anxiety. You can have an effect in changing and breaking that negative mindset loop or enhancing the positive state that you’re in.
Number three is being present in the moment.
Give yourself permission to let go of dwelling on past events and worrying about a future that hasn’t happened yet. Remember… they steal your “self” away from the present. So letting giving yourself permission to let go of these things will help you to become more present in the moment and to help run your day instead of your day running you.
And number four is using something physiological like breathwork meditation and other forms of exercise.
Using activities like Qi Gong, Tai Chi, yoga, aerobics, to help change your physiological state and help reduce your stress and anxiety.
I hope this informatiuon helped you out.
Be Positive, Be Motivated, Be Focused and Be Well,
Have a great day.
