Discover Your #1 Superpower To Reduce Stress
So stress in society today is at unprecedented levels.
We’ve all been through a lot in the last two to three years, right?
You’ve got a lot on your plate. It’s easy to get overwhelmed with everything we have to do and not enough time to do it. You’ve got work, family, your spouse, your partner, paying the bills, and all the other things that are going on on in our lives.
In a recent study, this 55% of people polled said that they feel stress on a daily basis. And almost 60% of people said stress makes them feel paralyzed at times.
So today I want to talk about..
Your #1 Superpower to reduce stress and to make a huge difference in your life.
So what is your superpower to reduce your stress?
Now you’re probably thinking; you don’t have any superpowers.
Well, you do. Do you know what it is?
It’s Your Focus.
Now you’re saying, “Mark, you don’t know what the heck you’re talking about. I’m stressed, I’m anxious, I’m overwhelmed, and I don’t have any focus. That’s my problem. I can’t focus on anything.”
Ah, but the thing is, if you have a high level of stress and anxiety in your life, it’s not that you can’t focus, it’s that you’re focusing on the wrong things.
Now, focus is defined as …
…where you direct your attention.
You change your focus,
…you change your life.
The power of focus or the superpower of focus is your ability to direct your attention towards the things that you want to be, do and have, and what it’ll take to achieve those things.
So when you’re feeling high levels of stress and anxiety in your life, you’re focusing on what you see as the negative aspects of your life.
You’re focusing on all the pain and problems in your life, the traumatic events, the “what ifs” and the “woe is me”s” of your life.
You’re focusing on what you don’t want, what you don’t want to happen, and what you can’t do,
…rather than what your goals are, what you want and what you can do.
And what we usually find too, is that most of the things that we worry about never happen.
Now, I’m not talking about the things that we need to do for our home and our work life. Those are the things that we should have positive construction constructive thoughts about. That’s our job.
I’m talking about the seemingly never ending stream of negative thoughts that pop into our head throughout our day. It’s all the ‘what ifs”, the mights, the maybes, the coulds, that keep popping into our head and give needless worry as we go through the day.
Those are the things that usually never come to be, but yet we waste a tremendous amount of energy on those things.
Remember, as hard as it is to believe, stress doesn’t come from the events in your life. Stress comes from your thoughts about the events in your life.
So what you need to do is to flip your focus from the negative and what you don’t want to, the positive and what you want to achieve in your life and what you want to be do and have.
Easier said than done, right?
So here’s a way to get started if you’re feeling like you’re in that stress state right now.
So here’s what you can do. First of all, I want you to sit down somewhere comfortable, like your favorite spot in the house or the yard or wherever it may be. And I want you to get either a notebook or a journal or a goals journal.
And I want you to sit down. I want you to take a deep breath, I want you to relax your shoulders, and I want you to say to yourself,…
“It’s okay.”
Don’t get mad at yourself for being stuck in this negative mindset right now. Recognize that it’s there. Recognize the state that you’re in and decide to move forward.
Think of this as your mindset reset.
And one of the best ways to stop focusing on what you don’t want is to start focusing on what you do want and what you want to achieve for yourself.
So I’m going give you three steps to do this.
The first step is…
To FOCUS on what you want.
This is where you take your journal book, your goal book or your notepad and you’re going to set some specific goals for yourself.
Now they need to be specific goals.
I want these goals to have a date on when you’re going to achieve them. They should have some measurable that you can track so you can see how you’re moving forward towards your goal and the accomplishment of that goal.
This will keep your mind focused on what you need to do. This will give your brain marching orders.
The second step is…
To FOCUS on the actions that it will take to help you achieve those goals.
This is the strategy, this is where you plan. This is where you decide what actions you need to take today, tomorrow, this week, this month, to get you moving closer towards the goal and what you will do to achieve that goal.
And the third step is…
To continuously FOCUS on what you want rather than what you don’t want.
Because as you start to actively focus on the positive actions that it will take to achieve your goals, then your mind will have less time to focus on what you see or what you saw as a negative aspects of your life.
And you will start to see that your stress starts to melt away.
And remember, what you focus on is your mindset and you need to continue to work on it because it’s easy to revert back to your negative mindset loop.
It can be challenging in the beginning, but as you practice, you will see a big difference. And this will lead to having a positive focus, which will reduce your stress and you’ll see positive results in your life.
Well, I hope this information Helped you out.
I want you to have a great day and remember as always…
Be Positive, Be Motivated, Be Focused and Be Well,
Have a great day.
