How To Be Happier By Using The Attitude Of Gratitude
You know, I always talk about having a Positive, Proactive Mindset, but when you’re in a negative cycle, it can be hard to have that positive mindset.
What if I could show you something today that would raise your happiness level by about 25%? Sounds good. Right?
Well, today, I’m going to talk about how do you use the attitude of gratitude.
The Attitude of Gratitude means having an appreciation for your life and operating from a sense of growth and abundance, rather than from a negative place of lack, fear, and problems.
Now, when you’re in what I call a Negative Mindset Loop, there’s a tendency to focus on and ruminate on all the pain and problems that you have going on in your life. And it’s easy to forget the things that we should be grateful for.
Louis Howes says:
“If you concentrate on what you have, you’ll always have more, but if you concentrate on what you don’t have, then you’ll never have enough.”
Now studies show that if you express gratitude, it can…
*raise your happiness levels by 25%
*improve your overall wellbeing and
*also reduce your stress and anxiety.
I’d say, give me some of that.
Now I’ve been a teacher for a long time in various settings. Whether it’s been as a continuing education teacher for physical therapists or an adjunct professor for doctoral students or coaching with my clients.
I always learned from my mentors that you first focus on the positive, the wins, what you’re grateful for, because this sets up an environment of growth and abundance and continued learning.
But in teaching, if you focus on the negative first, then this throws up a big barrier to continued growth and learning.
Now it’s the same thing in life in life.
If you focus on all of your pain and problems and what’s going wrong in your life, then this throws up a barrier to continued progress, growth and abundance.
But on the other hand, if you show gratitude for what you have in your life and you focus on the positive, this becomes the foundation for all of the growth and abundance in your life.
Eckhart Tolle said,
“Acknowledging the good that you already have in your life becomes the foundation for abundance.”
Your ability to show gratitude for the things that you have opens the door in your mind to expansion and abundance and leaves less room for fear, anxiety, stress, and lack.
Deepak Chopra said,
“Gratitude is the door…. It’s the door the power, the wisdom and the creativity of the universe. Gratitude opens the door.”
So what are you grateful for?
Are you stuck in a negative mindset loop?
Are you focusing on all your pain and problems and it’s hard to see what you’re grateful for?
We’ll start off with the little things.
I’m grateful for the food that I had today.
I’m grateful for waking up and being alive.
I’m grateful for my wife, for my husband, for my spouse, for my partner.
I’m grateful for my job. If I don’t have a job, I’m grateful for the ability to look for a job.
Oprah Winfrey said,
“If you’re grateful for what you have, then you’ll end up having more.”
So if you want to bring the attitude of gratitude into your life and unlock the potential for growth and abundance, then try these tips.
Either at night or in morning, I want you to think of three things; three simple things that you’re grateful for.
Now, second, I want you to let somebody know that you appreciate them, and you’re grateful for them being in your life. Now, in this day of technology, it doesn’t have to be a handwritten note. You can tell them, or you can text them or you can send them an email. Any of those things, one, it will help you grow and help you focus on the positive. And you could end up making that person’s day and bringing positivity into their life as well.
And one more thing. I want you to make a list sometime during the day, and try to make it the same time every day. That way it’s easier to make it a habit.
Write down three things that you’re grateful for by writing them down, you focus more on what they are, and you’re really focused on the positive of what you’re grateful for and what you appreciate in your life.
Now, I promise you if you make it a habit of having the attitude of gratitude, you will start to see changes in your life, and you’ll start to focus more on the positive and you will unlock the potential for growth and abundance as you move forward in your life
Be Positive, Be Motivated, Be Focused and Be Well,
Have a great day.
